SMART Framework

A SMART Framework is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound. It provides the framework for setting clear and attainable goals in project management. SMART Framework also helps to achieve and focus on your goals. 

 

S- SPECIFIC

What is going to be accomplished? What steps are you going to take?

M- MEASURABLE

What is the goal? How will you measure your goal?

A- ACHIEVABLE

Can the goal be achieved?

R- RELEVANT

How is it relevant? What will be the results?

T- TIME-BOUND

In how much time will you achieve your goal?

  1. SPECIFIC  

 

Be explicit about what you want to achieve while defining a goal. Consider this to be your goal’s mission statement. This isn’t a comprehensive plan for achieving a goal, but it should include an answer to the following ‘w’ questions:

 

  • Who- Think about who needs to be involved in order to attain the goal?
  • What- Think exactly what you want to achieve
  • When- Set a time frame
  • Where- If there is a relevant location or an event, list it here
  • Which- Determine any associated criteria or barriers.
  • Why- What are the goals motivation?
  1. MEASURABLE

 

What measures will you use to see if you achieve your goal? Quantitative (productivity results) and qualitative (surveys) techniques of measurement are both available. It’s critical to set quantifiable objectives so you can track your progress and stay motivated. Assessing your progress will help you stay focused, fulfil your deadlines, and experience the thrill of coming closer to your objective.

 

  1. ACHIEVABLE

 

How are you going to achieve this goal? Is it realistic or not? To be effective, your aim must also be practical and reachable. To put it another way, it should push your abilities while still being achievable. You might be able to find previously unnoticed chances or resources that can help you get closer to your goal if you set an achievable target.

 

 

  1. RELEVANT

 

This stage ensures that your objective is important to you and that it is aligned with other important goals. We all need help and support to achieve our objectives, but it’s also crucial to maintain control over them. As a result, make sure that your strategies drive everyone forward while also ensuring that you meet your personal objectives.

 

  1. TIME-BOUND

 

Every goal should have a target date so that you have something to aim toward and a deadline to focus on. This portion of the SMART goal criterion keeps your daily duties from taking precedence over your long-term objectives.
